We had only been in business a year as Indigo Greens Estate Agents at the time when Simon tweeted Theo Paphitis (Former Dragon on Dragons Den) about Indigo Greens during ‘Small Business Sunday’ (SBS) back in January 2019 and were one of six weekly winners to gain a retweet by Theo to his 500,000 Twitter followers. The weekly initiative, set up by Theo in 2010, now has over 3000 SBS winners and supports small businesses in the UK.
Business and retail entrepreneur as well as self-confessed Shopkeeper, Theo re-tweeted our message to his almost 500,000 followers. We are also profiled on the SBS website which is exclusive to all Small Business Sunday winners and we had the pleasure of meeting Theo at Birmingham ICC to collect our winner’s certificate in February 2019, which we have attended every year since to network with fellow winners and take inspiration from high profile entrepreneur guests such as Sir Tom Hunter, Sara Davis and Touker Suleyman.
Small business champion and Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas & Boux Avenue Chairman, Theo Paphitis, said: “We are thrilled to welcome new SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK. My vision is that everyone who has ever won an SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club of like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings. The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen and I wish Indigo Greens every success.”
It is great to have support from Theo because it’s been tough trying to raise our profile as an “alternative” Estate Agent here in York and Theo has recognised our hard work and helped spread the word about what we do to his following. Four years on, Theo, his team and the great supportive SBS family have helped us through the COVID pandemic, taking on staff members and achieving so much more as York’s fastest growing estate agent.
